I heard this song today while I was there and it made me smile
and just forget everything that I am so helpless about
I met the sweetest young couple over the weekend
who took a few photos of my space for
decor inspiration. So we talked burlap walls...
this is a small moment of time
when I forget that each day I am
losing my mother...
I look forward to Wednesday
when I can join
Kathleen's White Wednesday
and my heart was filled
with joy when I found
these old enamelware pitchers
now for the Cinderella story...
Years ago when I was a single mom
I cut out my clothing allowance to give more to
my children. So I started shopping for my
clothing at the Goodwill.
Well I got pretty darn good at it since
persistence and patience pays off...
Soon I had Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs
and Michael Kors in my closet.
Well this week I added Tory Burch, Guess
and a Tylie Malibu handbag!
and "yes" I married Prince Charming
Tory Burch "Thora" Flip flops
are retailed for 115.00 at Bloomingdales
as you can see mine were 2.99
God blessed me with big hair and BIG FEET
the Guess sandals were the same price
and the Tylie Malibu handbag was 5.99
and everything was NEW
Well ladies have a blessed week
Happy White Wednesday
much love to all of you
xoxo
Quite the score, Kate. I love how you hung your enamelware pitchers inside the frames.....very original. Something about decorating your space...you lose yourself in another world.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you regarding your Mom. I just can't even imagine life without mine and really dread the day when I have to face that fact.
Best wishes,
Kathleen
Oh what great finds, Kate! A girl after my own heart~!! I love to treasure hunt at the thrift shops, some of my favorite and most-worn clothing items come from there! It just takes a little patience and a good eye!
ReplyDeleteYour booth at Country Roads is looking as fabulous as ever!!
~xo/michelle~
thrifting gets into your blood/mind/pocket and it makes it difficult to spend full price for anything! great score - and i love how you framed the pitchers...
ReplyDeleteGreat thrifty finds! I had a friend who used to nab new stuff and resell on eBay when it first began!
ReplyDeleteLove the booths and all the fun vintage items!

Ooh Kate,
ReplyDeleteLove those sandals and the photo kicking your feet up! What great finds you have, great designers. I wish our Goodwill had such lovely things. I need to remember to go Wednesdays, I think that's when they put the new stuff out. I could walk there, just have to remember: White Wednesday/Goodwill Day ;)
Hey, I love this song, it would be a perfect walking song too. I think I'll put it on my iPhone and walk to it tomorrow if it's available and think of you and what you give back in life with your caring spirit.
About your mom, I've read past posts you've shared about her, what a fantastic woman! Well, I don't have to tell YOU that. I do need to say, I've been through the same with my dad many, many years ago and just April of this year with my beloved step-father. Every single part of my heart is with you, Kate. From my experience with these two men, it is a gift to be able to say everything that was in my heart and I truly believe, vice-versa for them. May this comfort you a bit, kind soul:
There's no where you will travel which God hasn't been first.
There is beauty in the world, just like the song says. You can email if you ever need to chat.
Love to you ~Tracie
Oh Kate I love your Cinderella story! You get the best of the best from your Goodwill...you know I'm wondering if some angels just happen to drop those gorgeous designer items on the shelves just for you to find! I love those Guess sandals.
ReplyDeleteNow onto your beautiful little corner of heaven at Country Roads. Your style is so me. You really know where to place things and have such an eye for designing a comfortable space. You are an Artist who beholds beauty. (Psalm 27:4) love to you beautiful one. ox~ kerrie

Oh, I just love your space and the hanging pitchers are so clever. Enamelware must be in the air...

ReplyDeleteNo way! Love it all. What a super SCORE! I happen to have that same bag and a few others - from back in the day when I wasn't worried about the economy. Boy have things changed. I supposed I should dig those extra ones out and get them on eBay (sorry Goodwill shoppers, these Tylies won't end up there! Although I'll be looking next time I go back!)
ReplyDeleteI love your different displays in #31. I'm so glad you were able to get lost in the moment for a while. Nice isn't it?

Always in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOh Kate, it is so hard to see your parent fight such a difficult struggle. My Dad fought until the very end, but the effects of the disease made things so hard for all of us. I'm glad you have a place to go to be creative. It is like therapy. And you must take care of yourself!!
ReplyDeleteThose enamelware pitchers are great! I have a customer who collects those so I'm always on the lookout for her...they are difficult to find around here....at least affordable! Your booth design and style is always an inspiration!! Gorgeous!
Love your fashionista finds.....the purse is such a pretty shade of pink!!
Take care,
Polly
Hello Kate... I came over here from my friend Tracie's blog at My Petite Maison... I am sorry your mama is not well... I lost my own sweet mama 28 years ago, much too young, and not a day goes by that I don't miss her and think of her... treasure every moment you are with your mama... she will always be close by watching over you, and with you in your heart... my heart aches for you at this difficult time... but from what I have read, you are a very strong, courageous woman... your photos are lovely... and your thrift shop finds are fabulous... I especially love your pretty purse... love to you, and prayers as well... xoxo Julie Marie

ReplyDeleteAs always, your space looks great! What song did you hear that made you smile? Just curious as I pick the music for the store ipod. The thing with your mom is not easy. I lost my mom and dad within five months of each other, so I know where you are coming from. Have a great day, and see you soon!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
