This old chair was brought to me by one of my
dearest friends, she rescued it from
the heap of trash and brought it to me.
The words she left
when I shared the photo with her
pierced my soul...
{Love it! We are like this treasured old chair. Some people treated us as if we were just trash and tossed us away. But The One who knows our true beauty and worth recognizes us, pulls us out of the heap, redeems us, and restores our honor. She is just lovely! As are you my precious friend.}
{ I love you Cami}
These shutters were in the trash when
I rescued and gave them a good cleaning
and hung the pair on my wall.
I rescued old sturdy
bleached fence wood which Mr. Dior
made a table top and I married
them with two vintage eggs crates
that I found...
This trash bound trunk
was hiding a beautiful wood underneath...
Mr. Dior began the transformation
by removing all of the cracked leather
with a razor knife..
Then revealing the beautiful
bleached weathered wood beneath...
I paired this salvaged head board
with a curbside coffee table
for a unique settee...
Old directors chair that we removed
the arms and finished it with a white wash of paint.
Afterwards I added a yard sale
piece of glass to reveal a modern
style coffee table...
Free reclaimed wood made a statement
wall in our kitchen area...
Creating a rustic feel...
I love all of old hammer marks
it gives such character...
Last but not least
Mr. Dior's favorite is the dresser
that was going out in some man's trash...
She was just a diamond in the rough!
Mr. Dior and I worked until she was ready
to make her reveal debut!

Hey there sweet Kate, just wondering if you saw my post on August 10. Vintage Inspiration? I emailed you, but thought you might have been out of town. Hope you're having a great week! xoxo
ReplyDeleteKate, your friends statement is wise and true. Love
ReplyDeleteall that the pieces you have rescued from the trash bin. Olive
Adoring your Curbside Rescue Kate! It grieves me to think about what has landed up in the Landfills that we weren't able to rescue?! *Sob* Just this Month my Grand-Daughter spied a FABULOUSLY Expensive Palace Style Persian Rug sitting under a pile of Debris curbside on Bulk Garbage Day! She was riding Shotgun and squealed at me to stop because she saw a Persian Rug in there... I wouldn't have even seen it {6 year old's have sharp eyes}... we could hear the Garbage Truck coming and I had to muster all my adrenalin to heave that Wool Beauty into the bed of my Pick-Up Truck! Holy Mother of God are those heavy! *LOL* But no way was I leaving it behind! Rugs of this size and quality can sell for upwards of $9,000 to $30,000 dollars... hard to believe someone chucked it out in the trash heap!!! I shudder to think that within minutes, had we not discovered it, it would have ended up in the Landfill!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
the shutters and small mirrors are so stunning!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your finds.

The chair is so beautiful as is your friend and her words to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing.
Michele
Kate, you definitely know how to turn trash into treasure. I think that you and I are on the same wave length this week. I have drafted a post titled, "Don't throw me out with the trash". My rescues are not quite as fab as yours. People do not put items out curbside here. We have to take them to a thrift. I wouldn't know how to act if I found a treasure somewhere along the curb. Your dear friend knew you would give that chair Dior love. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Such beautiful transformations. I love the reclaimed wood in your kitchen. Wishing you a blessed and beautiful day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteWow, Kate... you have quite the eye!! It feels so good to transform a discard knowing that there is a gem hidden within! The headboard paired with the coffee table is pure genius! So glad I found your blog and I will most certainly be back for more eye candy! If you have a moment I would love to have you visit my blog to see my latest transformation of trash to treasure! You just might get a giggle!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading about your "redos!" You are sooo unbelievably creative ~ I LOVE it! :)
By the way, do you have a booth at Country Roads Antiques? I was there with my hubby a few weeks ago and was wondering where yours was. :) We made a quick stop there after our visit to the Long Beach Flea Market. Anyway, hope you are enjoying this wonderful weekend!
Hugs to you,
Jessie
