As the fall season continues
In my heart a new season has begun...
I love that my family is
embracing the love that I have for the unwanted...
{ curbside rescues }
To my sweet surprise Mr. Dior asked my son
to help him make this precious beauty
from the pile of old wood that
I had found in a neighborhood trash bin a few months ago
along with this old picnic table top.
This beloved bench is what he made for me...
I stood there in awe as he looked
at me like a sheepish boy asking if I liked it.
Well as the tears flowed I'm sure he realized
that I loved it...
I loved how he used the bleached wood for the top
and the other darker pieces for the legs.
How beautiful that none of it really matched
but it worked, just like us...
{ perfectly imperfect}
Surprise #2
My mama brought me home a sweet
gift as well. She has run the bingo at the senior
center for over twenty years.
Where she has fellowshiped
with many of her dear friends.
They had to retire the original old wood bingo balls that
ran through the machine since the center had opened many years
before she began volunteering there.
The caller could no longer read most of them and
new ones were ordered.
Each one having its own unique and
beautiful character.
Mama knew I would heart them forever...
As my heart was so blessed this week by your
love stories and lovely comments on our
giveaway POST. Thank you to each of you
who entered and shared on other social media.
Mr. Dior drew the lucky winner...

Oooh Kate, your bench is absolutely beautiful!... how precious that your hubby and your son made that bench for you from your found treasures... I know each cut of the wood and hammering of the nails was done with the never~ending love he has for you... you're right, it is "perfectly imperfect"... which to me is much better than just "perfect"... your boots and Autumny treasures look so pretty on it, and I love that your sweet mama rescued those old Bingo balls for you... more precious memories captured forever... with whispers from the past... do you listen for whispers from the past from your vintage finds?... I do... for I know they all want to tell their stories... thanks for sharing your gorgeous gifts... and congratulations to Pam!... how fun for her!... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

Oh how lovely is that bench! Congrats on joining FB, I also just joined recently. Not much followers yet, but it's a start. I've missed you Kate. Haven't been around CR for a while and not done much blogging either. I have too much dark clouds following me around lately, sad to say. But your posts have been so inspiring as always.

How sweet that he used old wood to make that lovely bench for you. I can't even get my husband to seal the windows with caulking. And at this very moment I hear thunder and we've had our first little rain shower. Anymore than that and it will be running through the window frames :/ Lovely of your mom to bring those little bingo balls home to you. Will look lovely displayed in a bowl or basket. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Pam.
ReplyDeleteKate I love the bond you have created with the link to the salvage and your marriage, and the pieces you gather from curb side have beauty once you open our eyes to it, all being perfectly imperfect.
O, Kate I spy a little galvanized number # 2 and how beautiful to include the number in on your collection, it wowed me to create it for you, the fact that the 2 shall become 1 so fitting for you and Mr. Dior.
What a beautiful job your hubby and son did on the bench, using the old made this piece a piece to love.
