There's a place for us...
Somewhere a place for us...
The past few weeks I have spent much time
reading where life is for other bloggers.
I read about their joys, sorrows, trials and most of
all trying to find their place as women...
This world sets high standards and then
life happens throwing us into the depths of the ocean...
There we are dog paddling for some what feels like
an eternity. While we look at other women and it seems
as though they have already reached the shore...
In the quiet of my heart walking through
my own valley I thought of the words from
" Somewhere " by Barbra Streisand
There's a place for us
a time and a place for us...
Peace and quiet and open air
wait for us somewhere...
Through grace and forgiveness
I continue to search for the woman
God has created me to be and look away from
what this world tries to tell me...
I created this little vingette to remind me
of how beautiful my life is...
I no longer have to dog paddle
that I am NOT drowning
I am where I am
because this is my place...
My beautiful place...
We are each amazingly beautiful and precious
women right where we are.
There's a place for us each one of us
to share our hearts, our {gifts} talents and lives with one another...
As I link up this week to some of my favorite gals
in blogland I pray that we see the beautiful
wonder of how lovely each of us women truly are...
Jann's Share your cup Thursday
Wishing each of you much love and a blessed week!
XOXO
Dear Kate... this is so lovely and really touched my heart so... I think we all, as women, wonder where our place is... I know I have often thought I do not fit into this place called blogland...I am just a simple country girl... nothing fancy... then, I realize that the diversity of it all is what makes it truly a wonderful place to visit... and I admire the beautiful women whose lives and stories touch me, like you... I have always loved the simple things in life and your vignette says everything I needed to hear... along with your sweet words... thank you for sharing, much love, xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteSeriously...this is what our sermon was about today. How we feel we need to conform to this world because of standards or judging that others put on us. I too am tired of dog paddling and that is why I am now in my place away from those who make me feel like I am drowning or situations that i feel I am alone in the deep waters. You know Kate, I am praying that the direction I am heading and the steps I have taken in the past few months are where I am supposed to be. God knows my heart, my weakness and my strengths and I am nervously excited about my future. i hope your week is full of love and blessings my friend...enjoy!!

Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Kate this post speaks such loud truths.
ReplyDeleteBlogland can be a super tricky place and with just the words of one post can makes us feel less of a person just because we feel the need to fit in or have what others have. More blogs need to be honest
or show a little real life once in awhile.
Sometimes it feels a bit like high school where we are just desperately trying to fit in a clique that won't accept us. I have learned to not let the posts or numbers, comments or all else that comes with putting ourselves out there make a difference to what I do.
Over the past year I have learned who my friends are and that is was really matters.
There is a place for everyone here and others should not push us out for being ourselves.
Take care Kate
Amy
This is so beautifully said! I often think about the same things as you do and still searching and trying to enjoy the ride. I love your beautiful blog, many greetings, Jagoda

ReplyDeleteBeautiful words to accompany your beautiful photos and vignette.
ReplyDeleteRight back at you, dear Kate. Enjoy your moments this week.
ReplyDeleteI love that song by Barbra Striesand!
ReplyDeleteOne of the very good things about getting older is you do start to realize that truly no one has it "all together" and that everyone has or has had struggles of some kind. That we are never really alone. We always have our God to lean on. Hallelujah!
(BTW: I wasn't calling you old, I was referring to myself :)
Sometimes I dont always read your posts but simply look at your beautiful pictures. So glad I read this one. Thanks for inspiring me..
ReplyDeleteHe makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed a place for us.
Thank you for your beautiful blogs, Kate, and for taking us to the beautiful places inside your heart.

Kate, what a wonderful and touching post! Thank you for sharing a heartfelt message and sweet reminder of God's love for us! Thank you for your lovely vignette! You are so talented and gifted in so many ways!
ReplyDeleteKate like wise, I too seek the real woman of God that's in me. The song you quote I so recall time and time, again and again crying to that melody, it''s a song that tugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful setting, and while you speak thought this post, I truly see you sitting here adding to the beauty you so created with the help of God.
Kate we have the same taste, I think I have that glass pitcher with the liquid volume measuring number at the top lip Olof the pitcher.
I got mine at Marshall's store, I love how old they look.
Have a beautiful weekend, and many blessings to you my most beautiful friend.
I will trust that soon we will meet up and share our thoughts and laughter.
Blessings

What a beautiful post and I was happy to see you included Barbra Streisand. I've always loved her, and saw her once in concert. But what I loved the most was when she randomly came into my life in a random way. On Valentine's day morning my Dad died back in 2007. Brabra came into Country Roads late that afternoon right before closing. We usually don't ask for autographs but Katie told her that her Grandpa died that morning and I was a huge fan of hers and she hated to ask, but could she maybe leave her autograph for me. Instead of scribbling her name, she asked Katie what her Grandpa died of. Katie told her it was Alhemizers. Barbra said her Mom had died of the same thing a year or so prior. Instead of just scribbling her name, she wrote me a short little note. I was SO touched by her kindness and each and every Valentine's day I not only think of my Dad, but of Barbra's kindness that day!! She IS the best!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Sue
Oh Miss Kate, such sweet words to my ears.I have been dog paddling for a long time and I am feeling that maybe I am getting closer to the shore these days.

ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful.
And that song from West Side Story (Maria and Tony) covered by Barbra is one of her best.

ReplyDeleteYes indeed, Kate, this is oh so true. Not just for women, but for everyone. We all have a purpose and a path to follow. Being grateful and joyful in our own lives ripples out to those around us creating a sense of peace and happiness. Wishing you a blessed and wonderful day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteYou are exactly where you are meant to be, and I know you will follow your path with confidence. Even in the valley there is beauty to be found. You have taught me so much about myself, and about what it means to be a woman of grace and confidence. You are amazing, and I loved your beautiful message.
ReplyDeleteOh Kate,
ReplyDeleteYou are truly such a beautiful person inside and out!!! I loved your words today and it reminds me that with faith, I can make it through all of the difficulties that are thrown my way, we all can!!!

Blogging gives us all such a wonderful outlet to create and share, and yet, even with that offer there's always the risk of wanting to do what others do--their layout, or their tables or designs, or their creatiity. Your message inspires all that what each one does and creates is beautiful and unique. Lovely, lovely post. ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteYour words are so timely and just so true Kate! I had a conversation with another mom today where she shared a struggle that just shocked me and reminded me that while you may think someone has it all together, you just never know what hardships they may be facing. Having walked through my own valleys, I believe so strongly in coming alongside others as they walk through theirs! God wants us to celebrate the joys and successes of others as well as mourn and grieve with them when they are hurting. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us and giving us this reminder! :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Vanessa
Hi, I am Shari. I happened to stumble across your blog through another and I am so happy I did. What a warm and lovely place to visit. I am truly touched by this post. It's priceless! I will be back to visit often and if you ever have a moment of your time come visit me as well. A new follower,Shari!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful post, Kate....just like you.
ReplyDeleteWe really need to have one of our long, overdue chats to catch up.
I miss my "honorary" Jersey Girl...
Huge hugs to you, my beautiful friend xo
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kate...I listened to that song today as I began my son's room makeover, and really listened to the words as I painted. Now I read this post from you. Do you think it is a sign that I should choose from all the shades of gray I am looking at, the one named "dior"?
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful message, Kate. I feel that we should look only to God for our verification in life, not comparing ourselves with other women. We're each completely unique and special in His eyes, and He's the one that counts. God has such good plans for each of our lives. hugs and blessings, Debra
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI found you via Dore's blog... and am so touched by this post. I guess it was meant to be to follow the blog path to you as I just posted about feeling a bit disconnected.
Thank you so much,
Zuzu
Kate - you are not only beautiful on the outside, but you have an incredibly beautiful spirit. Bless you for sharing it with us here on your blog, and for blessing us with your inspiration.

Kate I am always so touched by your sweet posts. It always breaks my heart when a woman or man believes that they are of little value or no worth. I always think of that saying, "God didn't create no junk". You have a way of reaching out and touching others. I always have to stroll through your posts twice. Once to read your wonderful words and a second to get a better glance at your amazing photos. Thanks for sharing this with SYC my dear friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Lovely work and such beautiful heartfelt words of truth.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by....
Through grace and forgiveness
ReplyDeleteI continue to search for the woman

Oh, your words above resonate with me. This is exactly where I'm heading into 2013 with this song in my heart and vision for my future. Interesting to know that I'm not alone. Thank you for sharing so eloquently what exactly I've been feeling.
