The challenge this year for the Dior home
was to create a " new style " using an abundance of rescued items.
Our vision statement was to create a home filled
with budget savvy style.
We have a terrific chemistry that evolves when we
set our minds to work together. Mr. Dior gave our home
a fresh spring look with a new coat of paint.
{Last years color}
Totem pole
into this fresh bold look
Remaining true to our coastal rustic style I chose
Snowflake Confetti by Vista Paints.
This week we took a broken table that was left curbside
and realized that there was enough to salvage into
matching end tables for our guest house.
After painting and sanding
we added a piece of reclaimed wood to use as a
support for the wall mount.
Then we mounted them into the studs
of the wall with sturdy anchor screws.
One side is perfect for holding reading material
and the other side provided a small work station
for writing and other tasks.
Both lamps were found at the Goodwill
along with the linen shades and painted to create a
tone on tone neutral in the room.
I still have some accessories to add to the walls
but I am quite the minimalist in our home.
Less creates a peaceful and calming surrounding for me.
Mr. Dior found an old twin bed in a dumpster
that he brought home. We transformed the head and foot board
into chalkboards.
My man amazed me even more by using the actual bed frame
and turning them into rustic style towel racks.
It was a perfect way to use and recycle the entire bed.
We found an old picnic table top
with no legs out for trash and we decided to recycle
it into an industrial style table.
After selecting the planks from the old table top
we used polyurethane to seal the wood and then
cut them to the desired length.
Table frame was designed from scrap steel
gotta love a man who welds.
Then Mr. Dior fastened the planks into the frame
to finish this dining table.
"Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder"

It's all beautiful! Love the table!
You may have heard it before, but you guys make an awesome design duo. So many cool, and budget friendly, ideas. Brilliant!
That dining table has such a fantastic industrial look. Your styling is always so inspiring. Love that towel rack.
Don't get too attached to that table...it ain't gonna last long!
Great job and I do mean great.

Beautiful transformations! I love how you are using everything to reuse and re-purpose!
It is all so wonderful Kate. The chalkboard headboard is so creative. I love the horse statue too. I hope your feeling and doing well, sending a big hug.
Being able to weld together the frame of a table is an awesome skill I wish I possessed.
I behold the beauty in this!
Brilliant! I love the bedside tables. Just beautiful. The industrial table is a great creation. How awesome that the two of you share this passion and gifting. Keep 'em coming! Love the inspiration. I may steal that headboard chalkboard idea. That is just so cool.
You two are the perfect team Kate! Love that new table and I have a twin headboard that is not a good fit anymore for the room it's in that I have been thinking of also turning into a sign for the booth. Easy to cart from show to show with a twist on the typical booth sign. I love that last table all rusty and chippy, perfection if you ask me! I agree with the less is more style, funny I used to love all things kitchy and more WAS more, but as I have discovered the nordic style I feel a peace set in as I have downsized the accessories in the house. My hubby is grateful for that also ;)
It's always a joy to stop by and see what you have been up to. Have a fabulous weekend, love, t.xoxo
Oh Kate. My eyes are beholding :)
Your beauty a grace I so get, I too am living simple and calm with only to be known to be useful and beautiful to my eyes.
Love, love love your new wall finish, it truly completes you sense of calm in your home. Your home could merge into my home gracefully with the same love of coastal and European brocante finds.
Patinas of grey's, whites, and driftwood tones.
Love how your space at country roads has evolved but staying true to who you are and what story you want to convey as a designer of salvage.
You and Mr. Wonderful Dior amaze me!
Does he have a twin and single lol! Wishful thinking :)
Keep gracing your home with you road side finds the rewards are your blessings and the savings are returned to you.
I don't even like to step foot in a furniture design floor room anymore unless I am designing a model home and in that case it is far from shabby and more chic.
Keep on junking girl your treasured finds inspire us.

Such a great idea turning one table into two! The room looks so beautiful!
I also adore the table with the metal legs! Just my style!
A lot of my neighbors are trimming their trees right now and I find myself driving by slowly scouring their piles looking for the perfect "salvage dior" twigs for my house! :)
Ohhhh!! I will be in Old Towne this coming Friday and will have to come take a look!!!!! (probably be there around 2:00)
Your Rescues and how you Upcycle them are AMAZING!!! And your Home definitely has the appearance of being so Calm, Serene and Restful... I wish I could be more minimalistic... I'm trying! *winks* I may never be a Minimalist, but I'm trying hard not to be so much of a Maximalist! *LOL*
